Sessional Examinations

Duration: 3 hours | Assessment Basis: Highest aggregate of any two performances

Practical Assessment Scheme:

Synopsis 10 marks
Experiments* 50 marks

Practical Record Maintenance 10 marks
Total Marks 80 marks
* Note on Experiments: Marks for experiments are divided into various categories including major experiment, minor experiment, spotters, etc., as per the specific requirements of the course.

Internal Assessment Calculation

Marks secured out of 80 are reduced to 10 in each sessional examination. The internal assessment is calculated as follows:

Actual performance in sessional examination 10 marks
Assignment marks (Average of three)* 5 marks
Field Visit Report marks (Average for reports)* 5 marks
Total Internal Assessment 20 marks
* Applicable only for courses with both assignments and field visits

Important Guidelines & Notes

  • For courses having either assignments OR field visits (but not both), the respective assessment of 10 marks is directly added to the sessional marks.
  • For courses without both assignments and field visits, the entire 20 marks internal assessment is calculated exclusively from sessional examination marks.
  • The best two sessional examination performances form the basis of internal assessment calculation.
  • Regular maintenance of practical records is mandatory and carries significant weightage in the overall assessment.
  • Students must complete all assigned experiments, field visits, and assignments within the stipulated timeframe.
